July is UV Safety Awareness Month!

Complimentary Skin Cancer Screenings August 17th

July is UV Safety Awareness Month, but it is also important to remember skin protection throughout the whole year. According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), ultra-violet (UV) radiation exposure is the root cause of most skin cancers.

There are steps that individuals can take between dermatology checkups, too. Recent research conducted at NYU Langone Health explained how patients and their caregivers are on the “frontline” of melanoma monitoring. Many individuals will notice a suspicious mole or lesion before a health care professional will, so it is crucial to know what to look for.

South Beach Fitness has a message from the heart about UV Safety. On March 27, 2013, we lost a friend and a personal trainer Brett Kaminski. Prior to working at South Beach, Brett had been in the U.S. Navy, and spent a great deal of time on the open water in the sun.
Dr. Saluja and her team were very supportive of Brett and participated in many of our fundraisers for him by performing complimentary skin cancer screenings and many other.

Dr. Saluja and Dr. Novo and thier team, PA-C’s Adrianne Vargas and Beth Perry continue to support the community, and will be performing complimentary skin cancer screenings on August 17 from 8-10 am at the club.
